A ductless mini-split runs a small refrigerant line from an outdoor unit to a wall-mounted indoor head, so it heats and cools a room that has no ducts and never will. Each head has its own control, which is why mini-splits solve the bedroom over the garage and the finished attic without touching the rest of the house.
